Admission

UG (B.Tech.)

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India took a policy decision in 2002 to conduct an All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) annually, doing away with many of the large number of entrance examinations that were being conducted till then by various institutes in the country for admission to undergraduate degree programmes in the disciplines of Engineering / Technology and Architecture / Planning. This initiative has been widely accepted and appreciated.

30 NITs,5 IIITs / IIITM / IIITDM, 13 Central / State Government funded institutions and 21 Self Financed Institutes  admit candidates on the basis of their performance in AIEEE, to the first year of Engineering / Technology and Architecture / Planning programmes through a centralized counseling procedure, for every academic year.

More than 1000000 students appear for AIEEE every year. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology is the one of the 30 NITs to admit students through AIEEE to all the branches including Metallurgical & Materials Engineering (MME) branch.

Total intake of the students of MME branch for under graduate program is 90+ . 50% of the seats are reserved for home state students i.e. for Maharashtra and rest 50% seats come under All India Quota.
